CeDRE International Africa Facilitates Workshops at the MES 6th International Evaluation conference 2014

The Malaysian Evaluation Society (MES) successfully hosted its 6th International Evaluation Conference in Kuala Lumpur from 24-28 March, 2014 in which two CeDRE International Africa representatives presented papers and facilitated some workshops. The theme of the 2014 Conference was:  "Results Based Management & Evaluation:

Lesson Learnt-Experiences Gained”.  Under this theme, four streams of presentations were held.  All of them were focused on real-life experiences with challenges, shortfalls, failures in adopting and implementing RBM and evaluation and the approaches, strategies, tools, and methods adopted for addressing them.

The Conference had a good cross-section of international experts and practitioners sharing their experiences under the above theme and streams. Feedback from the participants showed that the conference was very useful and many of participants suggested that the conference could have been expanded for another day to allow for more time for discussion on the various country experiences presented.

The Conference was preceded by nine workshops which were also highly rated by the participants. The Conference was then followed on Day 5 by an International Parliamentarians' Evaluation seminar attended by Parliamentarians from Asia, Africa, and Middle East as well as from the host country, Malaysia.  Jointly organised and supported by the Malaysian Parliament, Ministry of Finance Malaysia, and the ECDG, the PES event identified a host of issues related to RBM and evaluation.  The Seminar then came up with recommendations as well as an action plan for the medium term.
